Day 9
September 17, 2012
Individual Work
Today individual work is very difficult for me because I feel very tired, so my concentration can’t be well developed. Because of that I started looking for solutions and I go to the store to buy a soda to wake up. When I return I propose myself to be very aware of the individual work I have to do. I continue doing some lessons of Greek for practicing for today class.
Doing this I discover a great way to remember how to write in Greek and the pronunciation of the words. I start copy in my notebook all the Greek words that appear in the exercises and I wrote their meanings in English to know what they mean. This technique has been very useful for me today; I expect that it would be useful for the entire year.
Then we have Greek class with Moris Polanco but he can’t join with us today so I use this time to continue practice Greek.
Greek Lunch
Today all of us bring greek food. I can’t be in this lunch because I prefer to have lunch with my husband. When I came back I talk with all and the enjoy much this lunch. Also I can analyze the kind of responsibility of some students because there are some of them that yesterday propose to bring things and they didn’t bring anything. I consider that in MPC we have to work more in our commitments.
Performance Art
Today performance art was very special. Mabe Fratti share with us one of her passions in her life. This passion is play the Cello. Today she played and singed some of her favorite songs. I was in shock when I listen to her because she is very great; also I remembered when I played violin in an orchestra with her, 10 years ago. Listening Mabe is very special for me because I really want to play violin again but I didn’t do it because I put many excuses of time to do it, she has inspired me to look at the time to play again. I enjoy so much this afternoon because of this great experience to listening a great artist.
Sixteen Stones
In the last part of the day we read a mathematical problem written by Samuel Beckett it is called the Sixteen Stones. When I read the problem it look easier than what it was. The problem consist in suck on 16 stones, we have to look out a way in which he could suck each stone by placing them on his other four pockets. All of this without disorganizes which he would only suck each stone once.
I have to recognize that understanding this problem was very difficult. When Kyle was explaining it , I was so distracted and tired that I´m not understanding anything of it. I feel very frustrated at first because I feel like going back to my math classes at school and being sincere I hate them. Later when Bert call us to get in pairs to explain to our friends the problem I was very embarrassed because I didn’t understand nothing. Minutes later, Ingrid offer me to explain me what they are doing. In those five minutes I understand all the problem and I feel very happy because
